Book Summary:

In which 11 y/o Omar and his brother Hassan live in a refugee camp in Kenya for a period of seven years after being separated from their mother due to the civil war in Somalia. They keep hope in the search for their mother, but as the eldest, Omar must put his brother's needs first as someone with epilepsy. Omar struggles with having to choose his brother’s health over his own education given to their limited resources. Forced to become a parental figure at his young age, he is forced to give up his childhood for the benefit of his little brother.
