Book Summary:

In which a teacher, looking for early retirement after being involved in a shameful teaching incident, gets assigned a Self-Contained Special Eighth Grade Class, SCS-8, a group of seven kids deemed the Unteachables by the superintendent who holds resentment against Mr. Kermit due to the incident in an attempt to foil Mr. Kermit’s retirement and force him to quit instead. Now Mr. Kermit must embark on the perilous journey to be the sole teacher of this group of misfits all year.
