Book Summary:

In which the citizens of the Protectorate are by the Council of the Elders forced to sacrifice the youngest child in the village to the “evil” witch of the woods in order to be safe for another year. Little did they know that Xan saved the children from the woods and brought the babies, the dubbed Star Children, to the Free Cities on the other side of the Bog. Until one day she accidentally fed a Star Child moonlight instead of starlight and fell in love with her. Xan became the grandmother of the now magical girl and must figure out how to stop Luna, her grandchild, from sucking out her magic. Meanwhile: the Grand Elders nephew gets closer to the truth; Luna tries to figure out her heritage; Luna’s mother becomes mad; and the Sisters’, an organization of women who are meant to protect the Protectorate, headmistress tries to keep everyone in the dark.
